Cute Signature

I found a great web site that has a huge collection of animated graphics and greeting cards by an artist who lives out in San Francisco. Her site is called Millan.net and I just love looking at all the creative things she has done. She recently added a sign maker and I thought it made a cute signature:

Shattered Glass

Posted in Home and Garden, My Life on June 13th, 2009 by Sherri — Be the first to comment!

Well, someone (who will remain nameless to protect the guilty) decided that I should put a large table top made of glass in the back of their truck and bring it to my house as a gift. The table top would fit perfectly on the plaster column base I found at Hobby Lobby, and then I could have a nice table for the side room.

On the way to my house, the road has quite a few pot holes and rough spots. So by the time he pulled into my driveway, the glass had shattered into a million pieces. (You knew that was coming, didn’t you?) So not only do I not have the table, but I get to clean out the truck bed with all the million pieces of glass. Somehow, this all turned into my fault.

Summer Means Watermelon

The first shipments of fresh watermelons are in the grocery stores this week. I found a big ol’ watermelon at Kroger for only $4. It’s seedless and plenty ripe. We put it in the refrigerator on the porch to chill it down and I plan to cut into it later tonight. I’ll probably just cut half of it into chunks and save the other half for later.

Now if we can just start getting the good cantaloupes, too. Eventually we will have ripe honeydews, too.I wish I could grow them myself, but they need hot sandy soil and all I’ve got is shallow Tennessee dirt on top of a lot of rocks and it’s not good for melons.

I can eat a nice cold melon at every meal. Summer is always about fresh melons and fresh vegetables.

Flowers in the Yard

When I told my boyfriend that I wanted to put a flower bed in the side yard, this is not what I had in mind.

Summer Means Music

There are lots of festivals in the area this summer.

If you are young and eclectic, you probably know about the Bonnaroo Festival that happens in Manchester, Tennessee the second weekend in June. There are over 100 music and comedy acts on 5 stages for 4 days and 3 nights of Tennessee’s version of Woodstock.

The same weekend – what dummy planned the dates for this one???? – in Nashville is the big CMA Music Fest. I guess the same dummy who picked the dates to conflict with Bonnaroo is the one who decided to rename the annual Fan Fair to “CMA Music Fest.” The corporate white shirts have pretty much ruined Fan Fair. But there will be lots of good country music in Nashville the whole weekend.
